Who We Are
The Canton Youth Recreational Association is a volunteer-run, community-first league dedicated to giving every child the opportunity to play, grow, and have fun. Whether your kid is stepping up to the plate for the first time or a returning all-star, there's a place for them here.
We believe in good sportsmanship, teamwork, and keeping the game fun. Our coaches are background-checked volunteers who love this community and love this sport.
A Legacy Worth Honoring
There are people who show up, and then there are people who build something — something that outlasts them, something that changes a community forever. Billy Montgomery is that rare kind of person. Through years of tireless dedication, unwavering commitment, and a love for this community that never wavered, Billy did what most people only talk about: he brought baseball and softball to the children of Canton, Texas, and he made sure it stayed.
When there were obstacles, Billy pushed through. When others walked away, Billy stayed. Countless hours, countless seasons, countless young athletes who stepped onto a field for the first time — all because one man believed that every kid in Canton deserved to play ball. His determination didn't just build a league. It built character, instilled values, and gave generations of Canton youth a place to belong.
Every pitch thrown, every home run cheered, every team photo taken in Canton, TX is part of Billy Montgomery's legacy. CYRA stands on the foundation he built — and we are forever grateful.
